I decided to give those places that EBWine mentioned a call to find out about corkage.  Victory is $35 per bottle, Livia is $15 per bottle and One Fifty One is $20 per bottle.

While we are used to some free corkage options in the area, I'm willing to pay in order to meet up with Redhawk. 6:30 would be the earliest I/we could make it. I haven't been to any of the three places, though I know that Livia is part of the Gia Mia Pizza group that we like a lot. I'm down with any of the options if this comes together. FWIW, via FB message I got the same response from Victory with a manager offering his e-mail and cell # saying they would love to host us. No reply from Livia and interestingly a reply from One Fifty One that they don't allow corkage. Likely a matter of not everyone knowing their policies.

Redhawk - any preference on which of the dates you'd like to do this?  It looks like we've got responses all over the board in terms of when folks are available.  It looks like Tuesday the 19th may have the most availability, but not sure if Bill is available that date since he only mentioned Sunday the 17th initially.

Tuesday the 19th is the winner!  Works great for us.

Thanks to all who have been investigating venues.  Livia Elmhurst looks fine for us, but I will let you locals make the final choice.

It will be great to see you all again, and maybe meet someone new.

Do we want to pick a wine theme?  Or just pot-luck?

I spoke to the manager at Roberto's Restaurant in Elmhurst. He is going to get back to me on discounted corkage. Dined there many times. Very good food and stemware. We had an offline there about 5 years ago.

Redhawk- Are you driving to Chicago? If so, are you passing South Haven?

VM

The one thing about Roberto’s is distance from the train station for Sparty. But not something that can’t be dealt with,

I am away those dates.  But look forward to meeting one day.  I was in Houston, but now in the Cleveland, Ohio area.  Thanks for your post!

Relax Mr. Cubed.

Its a free platform designed to make this whole process easier. No money involved. No ads.

Built it since as a wine student it was tough getting together with students in my class and I wanted a network of students across the city to reach out to.

But ya...spam, with no personal gain...makes sense.

Ads sell things. I am not selling anything. I present a free alternative to help you all.

But I know all great things started out with resistance from those who lack vision. An unfortunate but inevitable consequence of innovation.

Well, this thread got a little weird.

As far as the restaurant choice, I should be able to manage getting to Roberto's...I can probably just grab an Uber from the train station when I get there.

I’m usually ok with potluck. Will try and meet a theme if that’s what the group prefers. Otherwise I’m leaning 04 Bruno Paillard Champagne and an 06 Nozzole il Pareto Tuscan Cab, assuming my wife joins.

Potluck works for me too.  I will bring a 1997 Castelgiocondo (Marchesi de' Frescobaldi) Brunello di Montalcino.

Sorry about the odd turn. Spammers who claim not to be get under my skin.
