Hosted by thelostverse and yours truly, here is the complete list of wines as I have it, though I know a couple of other bottles showed up during the evening, so if you see something missing, please let me know and I'll add it to the list.

For those who took notes, please add them here. I'll add my thoughts over the next few days. I dumped/spat nearly all of the whites, so my notes early on are much better. Things got fuzzy towards the end of the evening.

Great event. Thanks LostVerse, Allred and their wives. My WOTN was the 2007 Fratoria Petrolo Gallatrona (VM97). My scores on the wines I tried are below. I added a few wines to the list in italics. Probably post some notes later.

I recall tasting other wines but didn't write any notes or scores for them.

VM
Wow VM, I'm impressed you got to that many wines. I think I maybe had 10 sips throughout the night, until if finally quieted down about midnight. I grabbed a few bottles and sat at the table on the deck and went to town. I finished the Peter Michael L'Apres-Midi and it was fantastic. A completely different bottle than when we opened it early in the afternoon.

I'll get to some more impressions as I have time to think about it. I still have about 25 bottles on the counter in the kitchen that have to be tried tonight so that they get into tomorrow's recycling.

As a charter member of the CWM, I can attest to that! I tried valiantly to rearrange things so that I could get there for this "homecoming," but alas, could not make it happen.
Catching up with the Chicago crew was awesome. My wife and I loved being their. Here are my highlights of the evening. Allred and TheLostVerse and their wives are exceptionally generous and wonderful hosts.

2004 Launois Special Club Champagne
2014 SQN Lighmotif
2006 Ridge Chardonnay Monte Bello
2013 Ceritas Chardonnay Marena
2003 Joh. Jos. Christoffel Erben Ürziger Würzgarten Auslese 3‐star
1999 Springhill Cellars Pinot Noir Reserve
2005 Thomas Pinot Noir Dundee Hills
2012 WesMar Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast

The SQN Lightmotif was my white of the night
My top 3 reds were the '07 Galatrona, '11 SQN Dark Blossom and '81 Diamond Creek. The best surprise was the '99 Springhill PN Reserve. Drinking at peak.

IW
Wow! What a party! Brought back warm memories of CDPs past. Thanks to TLV and AllRed for their amazing generosity.

My favorites were:

2006 Ridge Chardonnay Monte Bello
2011 Varner Chardonnay Spring Ridge Vyd Bee Block
2013 Ceritas Chardonnay Marena
1999 Springhill Cellars Pinot Noir Reserve
2005 Thomas Pinot Noir Dundee Hills
2012 WesMar Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast
2005 Novy Family Wines Syrah Parsons' Vineyard
2006 Novy Family Wines Syrah Susan's Hill Vineyard
2006 Stefania Syrah Eaglepoint Ranch (one of my WOTN. Really Rhone-ish at this point. Loved it!)
2006 Fontodi Flaccianello
2004 Ridge Carignane Buchignani Ranch (Wow! Really dug the rosemary streak in this wine)
2000 Château Beychevelle (Another WOTN candidate)
2003 Spring Valley Vineyard Uriah

1987 Beringer Private Reserve Cab (My top wine of night, which I think was an add-on by Bonkers). So lively and delicious!

I did not get to most of the cabs, zins or sweets as my palate wore out. But the dozens of bottles that I tasted were just fantastic. By the far, the finest lineup for a CDP ever.

Thanks again. It was epic.

Cheers,

Otis

The '87 Beringer was brought by a guest as a gift for my wife and I - we were celebrating our 30th anniversary. He wouldn't open it until Allred and I, along with our wives, were in the kitchen. It was very generous of him to bring it, but it was kept in the kitchen and never made it onto the Cab table in the basement. It was one of my favorites of the night, although I didn't taste many wines during the party.

Looks good, only 1 question:

Who hit the best whiffle ball of the night?

Funny that you ask! At one major wine event at our place many years ago, we were playing whiffle ball. As I recall, your brother got stung a few times by some wasps while he was batting. That was fun! But, the hit of the night was by VinoMe, who hit a ball onto the room of our house (he was actually aiming for Otis who was studiously ignoring him). The ball rolled down, landed on the picnic table, knocked over two or three of my wine glasses, and smashed them. In cricket it would have been a sixer.

Methinks it's time to do a mini-version north of the 49th.
May the tradition live on!

What Dok said! I'm in for a mag of port, amongst others!

So many wines.... Was this held at a Hotel conference room to fit the crowd? Oh wait, or did you just invited T-bird instead?

We hosted this at my house. Luckily the weather was mostly decent, and we were able to use the deck and patio in the backyard. Near as we can tell, there were about 150 people in attendance at one time or another. I've run into a few people during the last few weeks that were thanking me for the great evening that I didn't even know were there that night.

Big Grin
There were a couple places in your house with a serious traffic jam at the attendance peak for sure. Not hard to believe you didn't get to see everyone. Yet somehow still plenty to drink...
