Funny, for me it is Pilsner Urquell or Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, too!

Anchor Steam Liberty Ale and Lagunitas IPA also work very well but are maybe a bit too high brow for the Super Bowl for me?

Well, you've got two of my most favorites down, Negra Modelo (best beer in Mexico IMO), and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

Others I'd add to the short list (well, the long list):
Downtown Brown by Lost Coast Brewery (No. Cal)
Pete's Wicked Ale (readily available)
Shiner Bock (hard to find outside The South, but stupid good)
Anchor Steam Liberty Ale (readily available)
Pacifico (if you want clean and crisp)
Empyrean Vanilla Porter (from Nebr., for those tiring of Stout)
Anything from Anderson Valley Brewing Co.
And, good old Sam Adams (readily available)

Haven't had Stone. No. Cal? And, I miss the great microbrews out there in your neck of the woods. Sigh.

Out of San Diego. Serious stuft.

Wow! They're from Escondido? I grew up in Poway, bummed I moved away when I finished High School. I'll pick some up when I'm in San Diego this summer.

Well, since the Seahacks finally stumbled out of the playoffs Roll Eyes, I guess we'll be drinking Redhook's Ballard Bitter and looking forward to the commercials more than the game, once again.

Had some their brews when I was in Seattle last summer. Good stuff. I always try the local micro brews when I travel. There is a show called Beer Nutz that comes on the INHD cable network that tours micro brews around N. America. I drank some micros in Vancouver and saw the brewery and brewmaster on the show a week later. Maine also has some good micros.

As far as the Seahawks go, at least you can say you had a better year than Pittsburgh.
I like Hoegarten for a crisp refreshing Belgian wheat style beer.

I like Fat Tire a lot.

All the beers from Stone are really good, especially their special releases. Their Levitation Ale is really good too and not as heavy as their other stuff. Once a year they release the Imperial Russian Stout in late winter/early Spring, and it stays around for about 2 months before it is off the shelf. It is like a Guiness on steroids. Full "tasting notes" for the beer recorded http://www.vinocritic.com/April_Wines_of_the_Month.html.

I completely agree. (Well, Flemish beer can be really good and some Belgain-styled stuff like Allagash Tripel...) But it just feels wrong to drink that during the Superbowl, somehow.

No way Jose! Drinking I will be Champagne to celebrate greatest of American holidays, Super Bopwl!!!

Yes, Steelhead XPA! Have forgotten about that one. Really really hoppy if memory serves me correctly. I believe Mad River also makes/made something called Jamaican Red Ale which is even hoppier.

Unibroue-big rich Belgian style-great stuft!

I forgot about Unibroue. They do have a nice lineup of Belgian Ales. I unfairly associate Canada with crappy beer so I do forget that a few good ones are brewed there.

My domestic go-to beers are Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Great Lakes Burning River Pale Ale & Sam Adams Boston Lager. The Celebration Ale that Sierra Nevada puts out around the holidays is outstanding. I also like a lot of the Ale Smith Beers, particularly the IPA and Old Numbskull. I love Belgian strong ales such as Westvleteren. Budvar (Czechvar) & Pilsner Urquell are nice pilsner beers. Ayinger Brau Weisse, Saison Dupont Vieille Provision and Great Lakes Glockenspiel Weizenbock are great in the summer. There are many beers that I like and it is impossible to list all of them here.

Or Beer, America Jr.? Oh yeah, you have Labatt and Molson don't you?

Oh I forgot, the land of the free that produces MGD, Bud, Schlitz,.... don't all those beers come with some warning about cancer of the anus if consumed in large amounts Razz You can slag us about our wine, but not our beer... remember the war of 1812...don't make us come down there again! Big Grin Anything by Unibroue is great
War of 1812, you're kidding right?

Whenever America Jr. wants to pack up some mukluks, deputize some fur trappers, mount up some horses and ride on down, I'm sure we'll have a little something waiting. And, bring Canada's finest Molson Ice, our college kids seem to love the stuff.. Razz

Oooot,
