I may have missed the post but what are you getting from the fall release?

Although the Etoh level of the Chien Lunitique(2001) has scared me in the past, a recent tasting revealed a balanced(to my surprise) sophisticated wine. Don't get me wrong, it was still very fruit forward and in your face. It did pair well with our dinner at Bucks T-4 in Big Sky, MT. I had this wine with the wild game meatloaf. Excellent pair for a great evening.

The Heavy Weight is also a bruiser as the name would indicate. We had this dinner paired with lamb at the Savory Olive in Bozeman. It was slow to open and a bit clumsy. It had finally started to open around the time dessert came. If you've got this wine, decant it early!

So I decided to get some Chien, Dixieme recolate(!?!), and Rudy's Cuvee. I've never has a wine from behrens I didn't like but sometimes they pack a lot of heat.

So we're visiting London this august and I thought I'd bring over some wine so show my friends what we're drinking in the state. I brought a 2001 Sea Smoke Pinot Noir and a 2000 chien lunitique. The sea smoke was an instant smash. the group loved the complex flavors complimenting their european palates but remarked on the classic new world fruit forwardness. early on the Behren's syrah was different (not in a good way) for the europeans but surprisingly as the meal of tapas progress the Chien became the favorite pairing well with a variety of diffent flavors. Plus they thought the cute little dog was so adorable.

The truth of the matter is that both wines were fantastic and even the "stoggy" European Plates could not help but appreciating the classically fruit forward new world wines. Of course the 2 bottles of Veuve Champagne before dinner made everu thing taste good.

Tonight we will be having the 97 grange and some unknown Sauternes so I will update tomorrow.

By the way young's makes some unbelievable ales here in London so don;t miss them next time you come.
