I wonder if it's going down since we've finally been having some good CA vintages.

Personally I used to drink CA wines mostly until they became unpalatable (think 1998), then found the stuff I liked was Aussie (hmm, 1998 again I guess)...

But now am rediscovering CA wines since you can get good ones again!

But still I drink mostly Aussie so it's not me whose hurting them.

There's a lot of competition, internationally, these days. Technology has helped a lot of regions which used to produce mediocre wine to start making decent stuff.
