Spent a few days in Asheville to watch leaves changing colors and to hike on the trails.

Ate at Fig, Corner Kitchen and Zambra.

Corner Kitchen was on Thursday night. The place was packed. Food was great. Had calamari and crabcakes. Very nice wine list. Service excellent. Ended with a chocolate/peanut butter souffle.(Reservations very important)

Fig: Friday night. Again, the place was full. I had a nice appetizer of a beet salad, followed by farfalle bolognese. Again, the wine list was great. I had a French Sauvignon Blanc and then a Chianti (by the glass).
(Located in the Biltmore Village area) The waiter was outstanding. http://www.figbistro.com/

Zambra's is a tapas bar. They are a winner of the WS Award of Excellence for their wine list, which has many Napa and Spanish entries.

It was a bit noisy, particularly when the fire alarm sounded. We were in a small room with 4 tables and one fire alarm. The food is a little unusual. Lots of specials. Skip the paella and go for the tapas. (located downtown)

All three of these places are quite good. You should make reservations for all three.

Enjoy!
