Stef made Picadillo over sweet potatoes (as opposed to the more traditional rice which we have been eating too often) - came out really well.

Original Post

I had some caviar that was meant for the holidays but found it in my fridge. So had it with blinis and creme fraiche. Then dry aged ribeye with pan sautéed green asparagus

Got up early to make a turkey stock from the frozen bones and bits leftover from my smoked turkey last weekend. It'll be turkey soup tonight.

I had two tacos of chicharon en salsa verde as an appetizer

Then filet mignon wrapped with bacon, pan sautéed asparagus and mashed potatoes

I realized i'm going through MSG withdrawal since i've been cooking super clean past 2 weeks so I made a full flavored caesar salad.

1 cup of mayo

1 tsp of dijon

1 tsp of worschestershire

1 tin of anchovies

1/2 fresh lemon

alot of grated aged pecorino cheese

Our local fish market delivered so we had mutton snapper with roasted shishitos and tomato avocado salad. last night.  Tuna for lunch

Tonight at our Zoom seder -

Salmon/Red Grouper Fish Terrine (a/k/a gefilte fish but not really)

Chicken soup with matzoh balls

Brisket and potatoes in gravy

Assorted macaroons and brownies for desert (care package from Stef's mom)

and the ritual food and wine elements

Pork loin roast with rosemary and dijon with a bit of apple smoke in the BGE

Lentil salad with grilled peppers and whatever other 'fresh' i had in the fridge that needed eating - mint, cilantro, green onions, celery etc. with a lemon vinaigrette.

brined turkey breast w/mashed taters and green beans; with gravy of course and homemade cranberry sauce

Last night was lamb leg and arugula and carrots.

Tonight, pot roast, Brussels sprouts, wild rice.  Perhaps Champagne — not certain which one. 2015 Cedric Bouchard Val Vilaine, perhaps.

Takeout bbq tonight.  Didn’t have time to smoke so grabbed some brisket and pulled pork from Adamson.  Trying to support some local places.

Good on you guys for helping out local places. There is a small taco place down the road and we’ve ordered from them a couple of times - plan to do so again.

Ordering pizza tonight. Thin crust with sausage, onions and green peppers.

This may have been addressed already but I'm too lazy to look for it.  When you're picking up take-out or having food delivered, do you take any special precautions handling it? We'd like to support local restaurants but are leery of all the various potential points of cross-contamination.  Are we just being paranoid?

I wouldn’t call it paranoid - the stakes are high. I generally will sign for an order with my own pen if I need to sign. Last night I forgot to bring one to the front door. I washed my hands immediately after. I think someone else posted about wiping down their grocery packages. I’m still shopping for my own, and am in the minority by not wearing a mask. We will probably get crafty this weekend and jury-rig some. I cleaned the kitchen counters with Fantastic after putting the groceries away.

Thanks, Bill.  I presume any nasties in the food were killed by cooking, but should we care about the person who packed the food? Or who handled those containers before they arrived at the house? A lot of forumites seem to be ordering in and just wanted to see if there was any concensus on what makes sense.

I guess I’m trusting the couple of places I order from more than would be advisable. My assumption is that they are cleaning more often than usual and extra mindful about not letting sick employees come to work. I tend to not patronize a place if it looks at all dirty even before all this. For the taco place I mentioned, it’s one of the cleanest places I’ve been to, consistently. To this point, my focus has been on not breathing towards others in my proximity and avoiding contact as  much as possible.

We don’t order food as much as others on here! I think. The vast majority of our meals have been prepared by us. I’d also be interested in hearing from others here about precautions they are taking.

We haven't ordered any food - house is stocked.  I would though but only from places I really trust - Key West is small so we personally know most of the places anyway - Mostly buying gift certificates to give $$ and cash flow to the places we hope survive and will frequent when we can -

Otherwise, I would treat the same as other stuff - get rid of the packaging - disinfect, etc.

I haven’t ordered any food in 5 weeks.  In fact, the only raw fresh veggies I’m eating are pre washed and packaged — mostly lettuces.

I try to order out at least once a week and order enough to rationalize starting the car.  So any orders usually last a few days because it’s just me.  I don’t take any extra precautions.
