Stef made Picadillo over sweet potatoes (as opposed to the more traditional rice which we have been eating too often) - came out really well.

Takeout bbq tonight. Didn’t have time to smoke so grabbed some brisket and pulled pork from Adamson. Trying to support some local places.
Good on you guys for helping out local places. There is a small taco place down the road and we’ve ordered from them a couple of times - plan to do so again.

This may have been addressed already but I'm too lazy to look for it. When you're picking up take-out or having food delivered, do you take any special precautions handling it? We'd like to support local restaurants but are leery of all the various potential points of cross-contamination. Are we just being paranoid?

I wouldn’t call it paranoid - the stakes are high. I generally will sign for an order with my own pen if I need to sign. Last night I forgot to bring one to the front door. I washed my hands immediately after. I think someone else posted about wiping down their grocery packages. I’m still shopping for my own, and am in the minority by not wearing a mask. We will probably get crafty this weekend and jury-rig some. I cleaned the kitchen counters with Fantastic after putting the groceries away.
Thanks, Bill. I presume any nasties in the food were killed by cooking, but should we care about the person who packed the food? Or who handled those containers before they arrived at the house? A lot of forumites seem to be ordering in and just wanted to see if there was any concensus on what makes sense.
I guess I’m trusting the couple of places I order from more than would be advisable. My assumption is that they are cleaning more often than usual and extra mindful about not letting sick employees come to work. I tend to not patronize a place if it looks at all dirty even before all this. For the taco place I mentioned, it’s one of the cleanest places I’ve been to, consistently. To this point, my focus has been on not breathing towards others in my proximity and avoiding contact as much as possible.
We don’t order food as much as others on here! I think. The vast majority of our meals have been prepared by us. I’d also be interested in hearing from others here about precautions they are taking.
We haven't ordered any food - house is stocked. I would though but only from places I really trust - Key West is small so we personally know most of the places anyway - Mostly buying gift certificates to give $$ and cash flow to the places we hope survive and will frequent when we can -
Otherwise, I would treat the same as other stuff - get rid of the packaging - disinfect, etc.
I haven’t ordered any food in 5 weeks. In fact, the only raw fresh veggies I’m eating are pre washed and packaged — mostly lettuces.
Matzoh pizza tonight. We are doing a red sauce and a white pizza with spinach
I try to order out at least once a week and order enough to rationalize starting the car. So any orders usually last a few days because it’s just me. I don’t take any extra precautions.
Carnitas.
Broccoli cheddar soup
