What were your impressions of the Timbervine Syrah?

In less than two weeks, I will be putting on a private tasting of mature Cabernets. 1987 Dominus, 1989 Caymus Special Selection, 1990 Mondavi Reserve, 1991 Caymus Special Selection, 1991 Dominus, 1992 Beringer Reserve and 1992 Heitz Martha's Vineyard will all be included. Can you tell I'm excited?

well youn saw what i did!

bez, the cloudy bay was on the verge of decline, however its flavours were still intact, most of its youthfulness was gone, but still had crisp acidity etc. I think if you have any it should be consumed. The wine was still very enjoyable.I think that was my last bottle.

Side note - for those who haven't tried the '02 castle rock, it's not bad, but not quite as good as the '01. Still an excellent QPR. I also tried CR's '02 napa zin and syrah last week; both were tolerable, but not very good.

What were your opinions of the Kalin Wines ?

Both were very Burgundian in style. I was shocked
that the chardonnay was even drinkable since it was 17 years old. However it was quite good. I liked it even better than the pinot.

I've had 1993 Kalin LD chardoonnay quite a few times so I knew that Kalin wines age well.

I was pleased with both.

Who had the 87 Kalin, and why did he/she wait so long to drink it?

This Sat. my high school buddy came home from Hawaii for few days and cooked for us. He works at the best resturant in Hawaii IMO. He prepared 5 course meal to match some of the bottles that I opened.
