King's Speech was a great movie. You might disagree, Cap't Cancun, but it was hardly a "joke". The Fighter and True Grit were certainly entertaining as well.
Melissa Leo's "F-bomb" was so clearly planned.

Kirk Douglas was, as noted by Adam10, painful. Old tottering guy. I wish we could remember him as he was, like in Spartacus. (He's 94 yrs old or so)

Agreed. "The King's Speech" was a great film, one of my favorites in recent memory. There can be only one "winner," which is too bad, as they were were meritorious.

As an honored opinion, may this come even close...
I stand by my (lust) for Ms. Hathaway.

The Best Picture, "Inception" ? It was an Academy thing; I defer. Guess not.

Last: Watching Kirk Douglas have eye difficulty/ trouble with the afore-mentioned Ms. Hathaway in visible distance? PRICELESS!!

Is it the over-sized toothy grin?
I just never got what so many people see in her Confused

Nice looking, yes. But extraordinary?

For sure, you are spot on. My baby brother, 13 years my junior listened to my comments from the broadcast's start to finish and only 1/3 of the way through he was onto my thread, espousing feeling that was not just buttering up to "big bro". His words were his.
Anne is a cutie and the rest is up to any given beholder, 100%.

To me she is one of the prettiest actresses around. Sexiest? Maybe not. Mila Kunis is the one that made me drool, but Anne is stunning, imo.

I thought the hosting was lame. The standing ovation that Billy Crystal got pretty much says it all. Personally, I'd love to see what Martin Short would do with the gig.

I thought it was tacky that the entire 'Best Picture' medly was done to music and words from The King's Speech. The most incredible movement of easily the single best piece of music ever written (imo, but it is) is one thing, but they really didn't need to overlay it with the speech.

I predicted all the major wins except director, where I had David Fincher.

Douglas was too awkward. Hathway is fit but the two didn't do a great job hosting at all. Everything thinks Franco was stoned now. Likely, to be fair.

Inception was a good flick, but dragged kind of long for me, and I still don't see how you can enter someone else's dreams. That was weird.

King's Speech far better. I'm glad it won, I would have reluctantly given it to Social Network. The film was chillingly haunting and brilliant.
A tough call between The King's Speech and The Social Network. I suspect that in a few years, people will be saying that The Social Network deserved it more. The King's Speech was a pretty safe bet for the Academy.

Anne and Franco were not good hosts. Anne tried her best, I'll give her that, but she's no Billy Crystal. Franco appeared not to care (whether that was induced by certain narcotic substances is beyond me).

Watching Douglas was excruciating.

Seriously, who is a 10, or even an 8 or a 9 in your book? I'm starting to wonder if you even like women (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Big Grin Big Grin

IB,I'm with Glenn on this. Red Face

I also find Hathaway to be much closer to average than stunning. While I admire what is below the neck on Hathaway, I'm disappointed in what is above the neck, which is a surprise in some ways. Always remember, I bore quickly. Wink

I find intelligence to be VERY sexy, and somewhat of a tipping point between nice and truly stunning. Hathaway attended Vassar Collage, so clearly gifted, but I just do not see the evidence in her eyes, her conversation, and this combined with her total lack of gravitas, disappoints.

Now, take young Natalie Portman for example. It is impossible to overlook her sheer intellect (Harvard grad) or any of her conversations, or any and all discussion about the vicissitudes of life.

Beauty will always fade, and intellect will always stimulate. GIVE ME BOTH! Cool

You wonder if I don’t like women, but you are the one that thinks Serena Williams is hot? hmmm

Hathaway is a pretty girl and a decent actress, but I don’t think I would pick her out of a crowd.

When I think of the word stunning, the likes of Claudia Bassols, Lily Aldridge, Cheryl Cole, Emmanuelle Chriqui and Marion Cotillard come to mind.

Swap the last one for Adriana Lima and that might be the best list on this forum! Smile
Agree Lima is crazy hot.
