3rd Annual East Coast Brunello Event!

Are you going to set a date or let everybody pick their own?

Did you honestly need a response?

Where are we going to have it this time?

I'm in.

I'm certainly interested. Start tossing out some dates and places PH.

I'm totally open on location, and frankly the only times that are tough for me are the first and last weeks of a month.

Philly has been a great city, and is certainly a good BYO town, but we can always change it up.

Multipe Brunello offlines on multiple nights would be a great thing! Have Sangiovese, will travel.

I'd love to get some of the recent additions to the Brunello Files to attend. longboarder, Lentini & Festiva are just a few names that pop into my mind. And certainly some of the inaugural Brunello offline members such as dbw4 and rhone warrior need to reconnect as well.

Just not in the mood for an entire night of nothing but Brunello. While I still enjoy it, I don't enjoy it nearly as much as I used to.

I would potentially be interested granted there would be more than Brunello (no offense to Brunellophiles). All depends on the schedule.

Well, by definition a Brunello dinner is a Brunello dinner. First time around we had all vintages, second time all 1997s. Not sure if this time we'll have a vintage theme, but it will be 100% Brunello once again.

Can we have the offline in Montalcino? (kidding)

One of our "charter" members is abstaining (probably to drink some overextracted Zinfandel or 98 pont Parker rated Aussie Shiraz )

Besides, my "cellar" is not as intriguing as that of the other potential attendees (see "understatement" in Merriam-Webster). And, the things I've had to do to get properly aged wine on the table...

mwagner, we'll let you sneak out to the car to drink your Integrity from a styro cup. Just come to the offline. The opportunity to meet w + a, just a skosh, wiml and Festiva all in the same location is reason enough!

With Texans thrown into the mix, does Philly still work or do we need to move further West? I know we're more likely to get rhone warrior back if it's closer to his location.

Well, it's obviously got to be somewhere that allows BYO. Preferably a state that has decent wine shops to re-stock in, maybe even a reciprocal one.

Oh, and a location that we actually have a forumite in would be helpful when it comes to actually organizing the event.

I clearly think that the only answer is Toronto. (kidding again).

Philly works for me. I have a client right across the river in Jersey.

Any thoughts on a theme for this year? As futronic said, our first event was just random bottles. #2 was devoted to the 1997 vintage. I'd love to focus on more mature wines this time, but understand that many may not have older Brunelli in their collections.

I'm glad someone thought to notify me.

Assuming it's in Philly, I'd love to come.

1995 is a vintage that's drinking well, and I'd venture that most people have some in their cellar.

In the interest of having decent pours, it would probably be good to cap it at 8-10 unless we want to bring magnums.

Based on inital response, it's likely this may go way beyond 8-10 attendees. Frankly, if a few of the interested parties bring spouses or S.O.'s, we're already there!

I think that the 1995 angle is a good one. They are also readily available for the most part, so doing 2 bottles of each wine shouldn't be a huge problem if the need arises.

Some dates to consider:

Weekends of February 10-11 or 17-18.
Weekends of March 10-11 or 17-18.

I would prefer Feb. 17-18 or Mar. 10-11 (the March date moreso than the February one).

Also, if the event gets too big, maybe we split up the tables into tables of 8.

Bringing magnums or two 750mL bottles of the same wine might pose a bit of a problem, especially if you're going with a 1995 theme.

Any consideration for flights? Maybe some 95s, 96s, 97s, 98s, etc?

Philly is easy for me. 1995 Brunello is more difficult because I have none left.

Flights are fine. The 1995s are such good wines, but if that poses a problem for anyone, bring whatever you have. It'll be a lot easier to figure out wines once we have a date picked and list of attendees.

Heck, if I don't have a wine that meets the requirements I'll buy one that does between now and then. Any others that would like to do so and ship it to me I'd be happy to store it in the cellar and check it in my box for the flight up. No problems.

Any of those dates currently work for me.
