Last time I was in Los Angeles, LA Wine Company had a pretty good selection of Inniskillen ice wines which were quite fairly priced. This is a pretty good place to buy wine. Their pricing is usually as good as it gets. Its kind of a small warehouse store that has a very eclectic mix of wines. The inventory does change rather quickly. I've sometimes seen Chateau Yquem priced fairly reasonably there. Its worth checki8ng into. Porkpa
If you live in NYC, you could be better off having the LCBO ship various icewine to the store closest to the New York/Ontario border. You wouldn't get a discount, however (the LCBO doesn't give discounts), and you would have to declare it coming across the border into the US.
I am able to ship 4 cases (48 bottles) of 1998 Ontario VQA Riesling Icewine to you fob Lewiston NY by fedex/UPS for $270.00 USD a case. Other varities available, contact me direct at firstname.lastname@example.org
Don't necessarily limit yourself to Canada or Germany!!! It might be fun to venture outward, too, and try some other icewines from other regions.
For example, I've had a bottle of 2002 Chateau Ste. Michelle Reserve White Reisline Icewine that was absolutely fantastic. If you're into the scoring, WS gave it a 93 and Tanzer gave it a 91. They said:
93 WS "Rich, gorgeously honeyed and deep; sticky sweet but beautifully balanced with enough acidity to make it noble, oozing apricot, pineapple, honey and marzipan flavors that linger beautifully on a supersilky frame. Drink now through 2012. 150 cases made. " --Wine Spectator
91 IWC "Palish straw-gold color. Pineapple and toffee aromas. Dense, smooth and supersweet, with highly concentrated flavors that are at once gamey and fresh, thanks to firm acids. Offers a chewy, almost saline quality and considerable complexity. Has the balance and lushness to give pleasure right now. Finishes very long and very smooth." --International Wine Cellar
