Looks like Palm Beach and area have a target on ourselves. I painted one on Mar-A-Lago just to orient the storm. No one acting like nuts yet. Food and water still on shelves
Will really screw up the weekend as we have a large golf tourney at the Club. Hopefully PR will avoid any damage this year. When we were there in May we could still see many Blue Tarps.

Is it expected to reach hurricane status?
Dorian? Yes. Cat 1 expected right about the time it passes (hopefully) Puerto Rico.
Hopefully it fizzles out or path shifts out to sea (although not to the South or West)
Too soon to tell, however the two main models [Euro & GFS] point to different paths. Euro has it closer to us, and the GFS has it pointed more towards JAX. Also possible cat 2.
Latest Wunderground forecast has it hitting Florida as a Category 3 storm. Ayeeyah... Time to start buying water, bread and tuna fish.

Add wine, matches, and candles. Not ready to put up shutters yet, but will bring in small items from patio

Sorry about painting the target on Mar-A-Lago. We button up tommorow and head north. Latest track has it direct at Palm Beach Gardens. Been thru a couple 1's, but not looking forward to a 4. Got my gas yesterday. Range on my X5 is 550 miles.
We have dear friends that have a home in Orlando and one here. I'll give you one guess who is boarding a flight in Orlando today and flying to DFW.
This one is looking nasty. We all know it can take a last minute turn or fall apart or what not but all indications are you guys are in for one serious ride come Sunday and Monday. Stay safe as best you can.
Kim has a conference at the Naples Ritz next week Tues-Thurs. The conference was cancelled but I talked her into keeping the rooms, adding sunday and Monday night and taking off with the kids. Ill be out working so this takes a biiiiiiiig stress off me.

Making plans to get off of Palm Beach by Sunday or Monday (they are going to issue an evacuation order), and go to Palm Beach Gardens to ride out the storm.
Combination of a 3 or 4 along with year high background tides doesn't bode well. I hope this think takes a weird jag north. Possible, but not likely. Fingers crossed.

Good luck to all especially the Palm Beach crowd of the South Florida wine group. We look pretty ok here in Key West barring something truly crazy and we had a friend of ours shutter up the Hollywood house.

Nice to see some of the familiar names are still on here.
As always, these storms hug the east coast and constantly threaten us here in SC. If they are south of me I am always watching. Good for you in S Florida as it looks as though you dodged a monster. The latest models have it off the coast in the Carolinas, but as always, life stops until it passes. I guess I should consider myself fortunate since there is a chance for storms to go to sea, something not possible if you live on the Gulf Coast.
Man, 175 MPH. This thing is a monster. Really hope the forecasted turn comes through.
Some of my most enjoyable weeks have been spent in the Bahamas. I hope that the folks there can recover from this mess. Good luck to all of you in FL, GA, NC and SC. This is one serious hurricane. As an aside, our commander-in-chief says he's never heard of a Cat 5 hurricane. There have been four since he took office. As usual, dialed in, on top of things and ready to meet all challenges.

Dorian is the strongest storm to threaten the East Coast. I am likely evacuating tomorrow. This will be third time in five years.
This is entirely too close for comfort. I'm so glad Kim and the kids went to Naples.

Looks like it is turning finally. Foreal turning. Latest track has it heading pretty much for NC at the moment. Upper corner of FL is barely still in the cone. We'll see if it holds.
Turned out well for us - horrible for the Bahamas - with whom we have a lot of overlap here in Key West (many of the founding families here came from the Bahamas)
We are getting the occasional downpour from the far exterior bands
We bailed out of Palm Beach and went over to the mainland. In hindsight, we didn't need to; but at the time it was the right decision, I think.
Some wind and rain, but nothing very unusual or powerful. I did spot one sunken boat in the Intracoastal as we were driving back.
I feel so bad for the Bahamas. The Abacos and Grand Bahama Island got clobbered, and the storm just stayed over them for about two days. The videos I've been seeing of the damage there only highlights how powerful and dangerous this storm is.
