Posting this after the bottle has been open about 2-1/2 hours. Quite dark and opaque in the glass. Some hot stone funk on the nose a la CdP. Other aromas include blue fruits, wood smoke, tar, smoked meat and dried herbs. Medium acidity and mouthfeel. On the palate I get a mix of ripe and tart berries with black licorice. Medium finish length with noticeable tannic grip. As I’m writing this my impressions are eerily similar to the Chateauneuf I recently posted a TN for, and I’m certain that’s what I would peg this as blind. I like this wine, especially more so than the bottle I opened three years ago. However, sine I don’t consider it varietally correct I’m not sure how to rate/score it. Very interesting and a little confusing.
