Had a small preview sip, then an hour plus decant before serving with dinner. This wine is everything I love about WA Syrah.
Purple in color. Gorgeous nose of ripe berries, violets and spice. There are also faint hints of meat and smoke, but not enough to be mistaken for a Northern Rhône. Full-bodied but not heavy. There is lively acidity to go with flavors of ripe mixed berries, baking spice, pepper and faint black licorice. Fantastic balance to all that is going on. Some tannic grip at the end suggests it might be a couple of years from peak integration but it’s so delicious right now. 95. My favorite wine of the year so far.
