Looking through the list, I was absolutly stunned not to see the 2007 Myrat - Sauternes anywhere on the list. WS's tasting note for this wine does not give production numbers, but with a score of 96 and a release price of $36, I am totally confused about its absence.

This wine was readily available in the L.A. area for many months post-WS score for $19/half. I did buy a bottle of this wine based on the 96 and the cheap price of admission: I went into that bottling with the belief that its score was likely inflated a few points. After tasting, I was wondering if JS didn't under-score it by a point. It's an absolutely fantastic wine, and I have to wonder if JS's absence at the Top 100 round-table was the reason this gem of a wine was not mentioned in the Top 100.

So, what other qualifiers were snubbed?

I was wondering about the 2007 Beaucastel CDP. It wasn't on last year's list or this year's list. Then they put the Beaucastel Hommage on the list with a pretty hefty price tag. Doesn't really make sense to me... Not that the Hommage is not a great wine (I don't really know because I haven't tasted it), but the regular Beaucastel is really amazing. Things that make you go hmmmmm...

A group of us tried the 07 Myrat last weekend. It's no 96 pointer imho and I guessed the WS staff thought the same when re-tasting for the Top 100.

My choice for snub would probably be the 2006 Fontodi, Chianti Classico, Vigna del Sorbo Riserva. I have not had the pleasure of trying this bottle yet, but just based on the 95 rating at $60 and over 2000 cases produced...surprising it's not there. It was even Highly Recommended in the August issue.

Same here - haven't tried it yet (although I believe I may be getting a bottle as a gift next month), but based on the ratings, price & production, it seemed strange to not be on there. Perhaps the curse of JS.
Not being able to check out the site as advertised from Nov. 15 through Nov. 28. My paper subscription just ran out and wanted to check the online version before making a decision. When I clicked on the "contact us" at the bottom of the page, got the same two arrows facing in opposite directions

Click on the right arrow and it stays on the same page. Have updated to the most recent Adobe version.
