Opened my 3rd bottle tonight with grilled burgers. Pnp and letting it air out in the bottle. Writing this a little shy of two hours after opening.
Nose of ripe dark berries, tar, garrigue, Turkish coffee, pencil shavings, damp earth, forest. Still-present tannins with good acidity. Flavors of black and blue fruit, berries, black licorice, pepper, herbs, meat smoke. This is super-complex, but I think it may be a touch less accessible than when I wrote the original TN. 92 for me at the moment and I’ll try and save the last bottle for at least 2 more years. Despite me rating it slightly lower than 3 years ago, it’s really delicious and right in my wheelhouse.
I opened one of these in January and while excellent I thought it could still use some time so have decided to not open another for at least 2 years.
I failed at saving my last one. Tonight’s bottle showed excellent. Pop and pour, letting it breath in the bottle and following over the course of a few hours. Textbook Gigondas, and right in my sweet spot. Aromas of black licorice, campfire, leather, tar, and dark berries. Flavors include a mix of dark and red fruits, dried herbs, espresso, smoked meat and licorice. Excellent.

Was this the regular bottling, or Les Claux? I have one 2010 Les Claux that I might hold onto for a while, given your very helpful note. Have a couple 2015, which I will definitely continue to store away.
Hi Haggis. It was the regular bottling.
