Decanted about two hours as of typing this. Very dark; more purple than red. Nose of dark berries, pencil shavings and campfire. No barnyard. Medium-bodied with lively acid. Blackberry, black licorice, white pepper and a hint of smoked meat on the palate. I didn't research the blend and the bottle doesn't say, but I'm guessing there is a lot of Syrah in this. Good match with grilled steak and even not bad with a cayenne-laced brownie. Seamless and balanced, and should go 5 more years with no problem. One of the more "elegant" bottles of Gigondas I've had. 91.
