This is a terrific cabernet and, judging by my search of this forum, nobody is drinking Spence wines. It's translucent crimson with an open nose of cherry and mulberry. Oak is integrated all round. Medium-to-full bodied black cherry and cassis and an additional fruit tier I can't pinpoint. Nice mineral and herbal mid-palate. Slate, tobacco, maybe a hint of chocolate and mint. Slightly gritty tannin. Lengthy finish. Everything you want in a mountain cab. This was a gift four years ago, but at around $70 today, it's a great QPR in today's Cali cab market. A solid 93 points but may improve over the next two years if properly stored.
