2007 Saintsbury Chardonnay

Saintsbury has been at it for a Loooong time. My first was their 1990 drunk in 1995. I was a red wine drinker for 13 years, but that 1990 chardonnay was the first white that made me shift gears to buying chardonnay also. One of the wines I really remember. Seems like I remember in an old WS contest between some high powered California chardonnays and some real high powered French versions, that particular vintage of Saintsbury made a good showing. Anyone out there remember that?

Thanks for the notes! I've had some of their pinots lately but i'll seek out the 07 chardonnay.

The 2007 California Chardonnays I have tried from the producers that use oak judiciously have been excellent.

I totally agree. In the lower mid-priced range (say $15 +/-) I've had the Foxglove, Souverain, and the BV Carneros and all have been really nice.

Time for the last of 12. Still bright light straw color, still seemed very fresh, even at age 3. A delightful wine and probably at its peak right now. 90 points
