- 2006 Double Diamond (Schrader) Cabernet Sauvignon Amber Knolls Vineyard - USA, California, North Coast, Red Hills Lake County (8/29/2009)
-- popped and poured --
-- tasted non-blind over 0.5 hours --
NOSE: red fruits and oak; hint of spice; a bit alcoholic.
BODY: purple-garnet color of medium-deep depth; medium bodied.
TASTE: very tart; oaky; hint of alcohol; mostly red fruits on the palate, perhaps some loganberry too; very fruit forward; not a typical Cab., to me; 14.7% alc.; medium length finish; somewhat hot. Overall, I think this is a solid, and kind of atypical, Cabernet Sauvignon. That said, I do think there are better $30 wines out there.
B: 50, 5, 11, 15, 6 = (87 pts.)
