2006 Bordeaux Arriving

I just got a call from my wine guy--My 2006 LaCroix St. Georges is in. I didn't buy heavily in 2006, but I wanted to get some Pomerols. I have the impression that 2006 was a good year in Pomerol, and although it isn't exactly cheap, it's a less expensive vintage than 2005. I have a few bottles of VCC on order as well.

I also noticed my local shop has had '06 Clerc Milon in stock for a few weeks now.

Is anyone else going to pick up any 2006 Bdx?

All depends upon the retailers as far as i am concerned. If they need to free up space for other wine and they place items on sale then I will purchase. Otherwise I might pass.

Unlikely that I will search the internet like I did for the 2000, 2003, 2004 & 2005.

khmark, I've heard Brannaire Ducru is really good for 2006, and as I mentioned above, Pomerol was a "sweet spot" for the vintage. If you have a chance, you might look for some of those at your tasting.

Anyone going to the Union des Grands Cru tastings? Where? Seems there will not be one for the public in Chicago again this year and I'm thinking about flying to LA for theirs....don't laugh.

Nope. Better to buy well-stored '01 Pomerols, '98s, etc., IMO.

I'll be there. I'll be sticking to the major reds, whites and Sauternes.

Redhawk, I am in Howell Michigan. Where is your wine shop in Saginaw? I may want to get some of the 06 Clerc Milon.

I'm still counting 13 different 2005 Bordeaux owed to me. What's with the big delays this vintage?

Still haven't seen many 2006 in the stores yet.

Redhawk, I purchased the Croix and VCC as well. Did you taste the wine before at the UGC? They are killer wines. I hope to get my soon as well. You picked for sure winners!
