NOSE: rich raspberry and oak; nice moist earth rusticity/minerality; very slight hint of funk; hint of smoke; slight citrus lift.
BODY: clear; purple-garnet color of medium depth; medium bodied.
TASTE: very nicely balanced -- much more acid than I am used to from CARhones; juicy purple fruits; smoke; oak; cinnamon and clove come through on the finish; finish is long (50 sec.), but a bit hot (surprising considering this is relatively low alc. (14.8%) for the type of wine it is); hole at back of mid palate. Very solid wine, but it does seem to be a bit of a mish-mash, structurally speaking. "A" and I scored this almost identically:
B: 50, 5, 12, 16, 7 = 90
A: 50, 5, 11, 16, 7 = 89
