2005 Bordeaux hitting the stores

Surprised to see 2005 Bordeaux hitting the stores so quickly. I got an e-mail from my local wine shop with 2005 Le Gay, Haut Bages Liberal, L’Evangile, Larcis Ducasse, Pavie Macquin just to name a few. I wasn’t expecting them until spring/summer of 08. Is that not the normal time frame or am I losing it?

$184 for the Macquin, $250 for the L'Evangile, $114 for the Le Gay. Not sure what the futures price were for those bottles.

I paid $900 a case for the Pavie Macquin early in the futures pricing.

I paid $110/bottle for the Macquin AFTER Parker's upgrade came out. The next day the cheapest I could find was $229.

In recent years bdx has started arriving around now, but the bulk won't come for a few months. I too feel like this is a little earlier than it used to be, perhaps they want to spread out the timing of arrivals and the next year's futures campaign.

Given the brisk sales of 2005 Bordeaux I would think they would wait, but then again the slow sales of 2006 Bordeaux might prompt them to push their 2005 into the marketplace sooner than expected. So far I haven't seen any 2005's and I'm waiting on my last 2004 futures.
