Tasted February 24, 2007 at home as part of the Wino Depot Tasting With Friends event. Opened and decanted about 45 minutes before serving in a Spiegelau Authentis Magnum glass. Dark purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of blueberries, cedar and smoke. Hot on the nose. Flavors of plums, blackberries and cigar/smoke. Medium acidity, firm tannins, full bodied. Alcohol is too high, other than that the balance is basically OK. Drink now with at least 1 hour in the decanter and preferably hold another 6 months to a year to see if it resolves in bottle. Seemed to improve quite a bit around the 90 minute mark. (87 pts.)
