Wow. What a beautiful wine and a screaming deal when compared to Sauternes.

Apricot, spice, orange zest nose with these flavours on entry with honey added. Excellent mid-palate weight with long complex finish which has butter, apple, apricot and vanilla. 94 points $30 in BC which I think is an excellent QPR. I bought a bunch and look forward to enjoying over the next few years....if I can keep my hands off it.

I would agree that these are nice wines but they do not have the complexity of a Sauternes which I prefer. Also, $30.00 is the average price of a 375 bottle of Sauternes as well so I think it is a comparable product in price as well.

If you want a real value in Noble Rot, you should try Errazuriz and Concha Y Toro's late harvest wines. For $12-15$ a pop, they are bargains and you'd probably enjoy them.
Hey Mimik, thanks for the suggestions of the Chileans. I've tried them and agree they're quite the deal.

I've tried a couple of Sauternes at the price point of the Aussie (e.g. Roumieu and d'Armajan des Ormes) but didn't find them to be nearly as complex. The 2004 is the only vintage of the Noble that I've tried though, so I don't have other years to compare to. Apparently for this vintage, 20% is now un-oaked juice to add a bit more vibrancy.

Do you have some recommendations for other Sauternes that I can get around this price point? I've seen Rieussec recommended but that's about $50 out here. Thanks

I have also found that the few sauternes that I have tried at the same price point as the Noble One do not compare, and have largely been thinner, far less balances, with assorted dominant flavours that just arent right...so I second the request for some good selections (if any) in the $25-30 range.
