2003 Fort Ross Pinot Noir Fort Ross Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (3/27/2007)
This one took a while to come around. Initially the shy nose gave up very little except an unpleasant stewed tomatoes. But it got better. This wine experienced a remarkable transformation from wondering whether I wanted to bother drinking it to a complex, fruit driven, lush Pinot. Strawberry tart, candy, thick fruit jam, briar patch and wild berries. Green tomato streak did continue but didn't overwhelm. Finish was a bit abrupt and bitter. (87 pts.)
