2002 Maculan Torcolato - Italy, Veneto, Breganze (11/27/2009)

Opened a 375ml bottle of this over the weekend with friends. 85% Vespaiola, 10% Tocai and 5% Garganega. The first vintage of this wine was in 1964. It is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, 1/3 new. Bought this on sale for $15. I liked the 1997, 1998 and 1999 vintages of this wine slightly better than this bottle. Light golden yellow color. Reminiscent of a Sauternes in style. Notes of apricot and honey. Medium body with a lush finish. 89 points.
