Opaque purple with a strong barnyard whiff to it. Not a bad thing, if you are into that sort of thing. Not cleanly made, but I don't think that has impacted my enjoyment of this wine.

Thick legs, like cough syrup, coating the bowl, giving the light a tinge of pink as it refracts through the glass.

What surprised my about this wine was both how young it was (2001) and how big it drank. It was a mouth-full of berry, oak and tannin, Well structured, with a finish that lasted...and lasted. A novelty, a parody, an exaggeration of a Cotes du Rhone.

I do not think I will add any of this to my cellar, because I don't think aging this will mellow or further define any of its immediate qualities.
