I may be confused as I stopped buying this wine after the 97' vintage but it would appear Parker scored this 96 points and the WS a lame 69pts. Am I confused? Can anyone reconsile this?

jsdm, take a look in the main forum, there has been pleny of discussion over there.
jl had a bug up his a$$ an a frog in his throat. when he tasted this. this wine is not a 69pter. i tasted this last week an will taste a nother next month. also going to pick up a bottle of b glr. to taste.

I had the '01 Montelena from a .375 along with a Merryvale Profile (also .375), and while I wasn't especially impressed with either, I preferred the Profile. I don't think the Montelena was flawed, I just wasn't moved by it.

As a sidenote, this was my first vintage of Montelena, so maybe it's just not my style.
