  • 2001 Castelgiocondo (Marchesi de' Frescobaldi) Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Ripe al Convento - Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino (11/5/2010)
This will be so good in due time but already quite approachable and enjoyable in the glass. A lot of floral, leather, coffee and plum/raisin notes on the nose. The palate is very smooth and silky but shows a lot of power that is still rather hidden. More prune/raisin notes and some slight tobacco on the long structured but slightly grainy tannic finish. Almost 95 points. Re-visit in 2-4 years. (94 pts.)
