From the moment opened, the wine emitted strong prune, licorice, and alcoholic cherry aromas. The wine was double decanted a couple of hours before pouring and was showing signs of some age, like most other 2000 Barolos that I've had.
A very strong Barolo, it had a real intensity of prune and cherry flavours, good acidity, fine but evident tannins. Leather developed on the nose as we progressed over the evening. It had a long finish which was slightly hot (14.5% abv). A really intense, moreish wine, savoury and long. Great experience, worked perfectly with the goose and accompaniments. 94 pts.
