Who is this "Dummies" guy and why are all these books written for him?

No notes to speak of, barrel tasting in the cave and taking notes just doesn't mix...

I liked the '00 David, bought couple of 750s and a mag. Thanks to cave girl, the mag was signed by Craig Biggio, Steve Trachsel, and Mr. Del Dotto.

I tasted the 2000 David at the winery. I did not take notes, however, it was exceptional juice--I bought some.

I have not yet touched my 2000 David, but the 2000 St. Helena sangiovese is wonderful.

Decanted for about 6 hours. Dark garnet color. Medium body. Intriguing aromas of loamy soil and spices. Not a supple wine, it possesses a dusty backbone and green, herbaceous flavors to go with red currants, black cherries and sweet wood smoke. Fine, even enjoyable, with the meal, this wine by itself revealed a disjointed character not appreciated in a $75 bottle of wine. 2000 was a tough vintage for many producers -- I don’t expect this one to improve much. 87 points.

(Note: this wine was a lot nicer on release at the winery.)

Make Cab, not War.

We had one of these last night, with filet mignon in a sauce made with marsala and truffle pate, and potato parsnip gratin. I didn't take detailed notes but it seemed very peppery and didn't entirely match the meal.

Certainly enjoyable, but I'm glad I didn't pay $75 for it.
