Decanted 6 hours. Dark ruby colour; opaque at centre. Aromas of dried violets, roses, leather, black cherry, earth, black currant, wild strawberries, tar. Medium-bodied, with fresh herbs, red plum, cherry, anise, earth/mushroom, tea. Tannins integrating nicely up front, but gets a little dusty on the back end of the moderate-length, 30s, finish that shows red fruit. Cuts through the richness of a duck breast nicely. Will improve a little with another 5 years in the cellar. 89 points (07/16/2005).
