Greatness? Maybe not, but this is a first growth wien of feminine delicateness that, at one point, waspriced attractively. I am not sure what it now sells for, but another 5 year and this will be a very pretty wine.
1999 Chateau Margaux--expressive, perfumed nose of blackberries and dark cherries. There is still a bit of doughiness which suggests some youth still. The palate shows cassis and a bit of cooked fruit compote in the background. There is nice earthiness and a hint of pencil lead. The finish is a bit clipped, which is the biggest contrast to the other two wines of the evening (2001 Angelus and 2003 Peby Faugeres). 91
