1997 Clark Claudon Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley -- I could smell this wine as soon as the server begain pouring it into our glasses, excellent aromatics; still very dark; big nose of currant, berry, cedar; loaded with flavour, lots of currant, dark chocolate, red berries, vanilla, little bit of an earthy edge, all swirling around the palate; long finish, very fine powdery tannins, but mostly currant and chocolate at the end. 93-94 pts. This bottle had been opened but not decanted for about 36 hours; I'm not sure whether it needed it. This wine can go a few more years yet, but it's balanced and showing well now.

This is the first time I've had a wine from this winery; I was surprised that there was no TN for this vintage, given the number of times that I've read about them.
