Smelled cherry, a quick spice then pepper, and wet wood. Initially lot's of wood taste with little fruit, yet with a velvety feel that improved with warmth. Tannins present, and found some hints of coffee on the 4th sip hiding inside the finish.
On the second serving caught some tobacco with cherry flavor seeming to take more shape and the wood seeming to smooth out a bit. During the third serving, long rests in the mouth aloud for better enjoyment. Sometimes holding on the tongue enriches such wines. Also, went well with some extra sharp cheddar as a snack.
