1992 Philipponnat Champagne Brut Clos des Goisses -- recommended at a wine shop, I was a bit concerned about this less than stellar vintage, but it turned out to be a fine choice if not quite ethereal; nice golden colour, nose of caramel, citrus, fresh bread, roasted nuts; its most outstanding feature is the texture, almost creamy, dense, with extremely fine and unremitting bubbles, very rich; I believe this is mostly Pinot Noir but lemon and orange notes, red apple, caramel, honey, Brazil nut flavours lean far more to Chardonnay, quite similar to a fine white Burgundy; long finish hangs out in your mouth for quite a while; excellent
