Easily the most mature wine I've tried. Here goes...
Weak cork, it was saturated through the middle. I eventually got it out and decanted for two hours before approaching. Wine was brick red in the glass; the nose was very pleasant but didn’t reveal much, although a trace of menthol showed up later on. Some tannins still remain, but they weren’t overpowering. There was little to no fruit to be found. The flavor started out with a subtle barnyard funk that was supplemented by green pepper and cedar notes on the finish. After some time the finish took on a noticeable essence of cigar ash which became increasingly prevalent and eventually crept into the mid-palate. Very interesting.
I hope this helps anyone who still has some of this one laying around.
