This was served blind from magnum. I was surprised how tannic it was for a 1959. I was thinking more like 1966. Anyway, it showed lots of minty, blackberry and spice character on the nose and palate. It was full-bodied with a long fruity, and almost chewy finish. This has a long life ahead of it. Interestingly, I left some in my glass and two hours later during the dinner the tannins had softened a lot. 94 points.

This is a nose! WOW! What elegance and finesse. Floral and perfume as descriptors is spot on. A beautiful melange of red fruit and earthy aromas. Absolute elegance in a bottle. I detected no fading of fruit, personally. It just all seemed so incredibly well integrated and balanced.
This wine is defying time and I thank you, DoktaP, for allowing me the opportunity to experience this.
So Margaux on the nose. I agree with the floral nose and I did detect more than a hint of olive. "Dusty" is the best descriptor for the tannins as well. W+A, it appears our noses and palates align quite well.

DoktaP, thanks so much for sharing this special wine. This was just one of the wines we shared in what was my best night of Bordeaux ever.
