Had dinner last night at the 1789 in Georgetown and their wine list had some remarkable prices.

We drank a 2007 Didier Dagueneau Silex for $100 (full bottle).

They had 1998 Ornellaia for $240 and 1998 Sassicaia for $250.

Their lower priced wines were closer to double retail or just above (e.g., 2005 Malmaison for $60, we had a 1/2 bottle of 2007 Worthy Sophia's Cuvee for $40 I believe). That Worthy is damned good juice, btw.

1789 is a very fancy, expensive restaurant... I didn't expect to find prices like that on quality wines. They had a good-sized list of half-bottles, and many magnums. Their wine list isn't voluminous, but it has lots and lots of delicious choices.

Food and service was great, too. Highly recommended.
