I'm waiting to hear how the OP's bottle of weightless complexity was?
We love old wines, but sadly the '96 Gaunoux was too old even for our palates. Not corked or madeirized, just way over the hill. So we settled on 2010 Domaine de la Vougeraie Gevrey-Chambertin, which was outstanding. And yes, it had layered complexity in spades while still staying light on its feet. So there.
