Just opened and tried the 2 bottles I brought back from Scotland.
2016 Lagavulin 8 Years Old, 200th Anniversary Ltd Edition, 48%
This is a "limited edition" though I saw it in every whisky shop and duty free I walked into and is also available locally to me, but was $20 less through the Diageo owned distillery I bought it at. Very light in color (only the Ardbeg 10 is lighter), has the peat smoke, but in a lighter, less complex package that is still very enjoyable.
Talisker 57° North, 57% - only saw this in one of the 5 whisky shops I went into at Edinburgh and not seen here. Plenty of peat smoke, power and intensity, but without the iodine, seaweed, and band-aid notes you often get from the Islays. Really like this.
