Lyle Lovett & the Large Band
What did you think?
It was my 6th time seeing him, but it had been a few years since I'd seen with with the Large Band. It seems the years of riding (horses and dirt bikes), breaking legs, etc. are taking their toll. Lyle didn't move very well as he entered the stage. At first, I thought his voice might also be starting to decline - he's 60 now after all. BUT, they quickly got right back on-track and delivered a great show. Francine Reed, as usual upstaged damn near everybody - that woman can really sing. The Professor was on-point and crushed a couple solo jam opportunities. Luke impressed (fiddle) as did Matt on the piano. They still bring a very professional a super-tight show.
They played songs from a number of albums, which was pretty special.
My wife remarked, to start the evening: "we've seen them enough. This'll be the last time we see him." After the show, she opined "I'd see them again next year!"
Glad you enjoyed it! When I'm asked what are the best concerts I've seen his shows always come to mind as some of the most entertaining. It's been a couple years for us as well - need to fix that!
