Just finished Master and Commander; The Far Side of the World by Patrick O'Brian
Next up is Milkman by Anna Burns
There's an understandable mix up here. The actual name of the book is The Far Side of the World. It is book ten in the captain Jack Aubrey series. The first book in the series is Master and Commander.
Of course there is a movie called, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. The movie was to become the first of a series with the name of the movie's sequels after the colon in the title. However the film, as good as it was, did not do enough money at the box office so no further films were make leaving the title of the movie kind to kind of hang there.
Some editions of the book, that were released at the time of the movie, try to mush the two titles together to enhance sales.
Yes, I'm aware of the series, which is why I wrote it as it's written on the used (mushed) paperback I read, although that was supposed to be a colon, not a semi. The book even has a picture of Russell Crowe on the cover. I realize I should have sought out a first edition copy of the book in order to have real cred with the literary elite, but it was $1.50.
PH, let me know when you book that flight. I'll meet you out there and hold him down. Then we'll open some good wine.
