i won a couple of lots at the Toronto Symphony Orchestra charity auction.
Nicely done Sunny. Some other friends won some lots there. I gave up on it because of the stupid hammer prices in recent years. Maybe enough people stayed away that there were some more reasonable prices... Might give it another try next year.
I bid on, or was going to bid on, perhaps 10 different lots. Most lots easily surpassed my max bid. But the mixed lot of Barolo/Barbaresco was an anomaly. I was surprised I got it at the price I did. BTW I opened the first bottle a few nights ago (the Marchesi di Gresy Gaiun) and it was singing.
My impression was that most lots went for fair market value (which was more than I was willing to pay because I'm a bargain hunter).
Well done Sunny!
Sadly, the second bottle from that lot, a 1990 Produttori Asili, was completely shot. All brown sugar and soy.
