A lot of people get to college with poor grammar, sentence structure and punctuation. Usually it improves in composition classes when the teacher marks their paper with a red pen and then makes them resubmit their papers. College composition courses helped my writing quite a bit. Much more than highschool or the rules they teach in elementary school.
Granted, my high school days were 25 years ago, but they taught us spelling, punctuation and sentence structure before fifth grade......
