Ania, Meat and cheese are difficult to digest when compared to fruits and vegetables. They use up enzymes and slow down digestion and elimination. If you stop eating meat for a while it is far less taxing on the digestive system. You are aware that the body produces enzymes, right. Also consider the role the liver plays in digestion and the break down and elimination of fats. A vegetarian diet gives your liver a rest.
I read that cooked food is treated as a pathogen. It does not really matter though. It still has nutrients. Some people with poor digestion cannot access the nutrients in raw foods.
Indybob, I will leave out the sitting on the couch part but "eating 3000 calories a day in brocolli, bell peppers and spinach will definately make you fat, not to mention have gas out the wazoooo."
I am not sure about that. Gas is caused by indigestion. The only time I get gas is when I overeat. Otherwise it does not matter what food I eat. Not even Saurkraut gives me gas.
