I can agree with Jochem's observations about the Valdicava. An absolutely superb wine.
Having purchased several bottles late last year, I decided to open one (as one of several various bottles opened that evening) for a NY's Eve dinner with close friends and fellow wine collectors (isn't that one reason we purchase great wines?). We were all anxious to try this 'young' and begin to follow it's growth over the next several years. After about 5 hours of allowing it to 'breathe' we consumed. Truly monumental! Though understandably young and still 'tight'. An INCREDABLY long, fantastic finish. It just seems to go on forever.
I strongly believe the 2001 Valdicava will truly be one of the best Brunellos ever.... If you have this in your cellar, be confident you won't be disappointed
