For the OP, sometimes people splash decant young wines (presumably without sediment). This involves tipping the bottle upside down quickly and inserting it into the neck of the decanter so that the wine 'splashes', putting a lot of air into it quickly - no fancy aeration device required. Some people will say they splash decanted, indicating this approach which is different, due to the differences noted above than a simple slow/gentle decant into a decanter, carafer or jug.
